Sweet Tiana Kalina’s treatment and recovery

I’m creating this go fund me on behalf of Joshua Kalina. On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, his 12 year old daughter, Tiana, was rushed to the ER with severe head pain, nausea, numbness in her face and glassy eyes. She had a CT scan and a mass was found in her brain. She was immediately sent to UW Children’s Hospital where she had an MRI and more details about the mass were found. She had an 8+ hour brain surgery on January 20, 2023 where they removed the large tumor and a cyst. Thankfully they were able to remove it all! On January 26, 2023 the biopsy results came back and Tiana has Stage II Ependymoma. A type of slow growing cancer found in the brain and spine. She will be starting radiation in the coming weeks at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN

Tiana is the most caring, kind, thoughtful, 12 year old girl. She is quiet and laid back but loves a good adventure. She is active in Karate and Girl Scouts and loves being with her friends. She does not deserve for her life to be put on hold from what is happening to her.

Josh is an extremely hardworking, generous, outgoing guy. He is a great, patient and attentive father, always doing his best to make sure Tiana is happy and healthy. He always puts Tiana first in all aspects of his life.

Please consider donating anything small or large to help Josh continue to be by Tiana’s side during this extremely challenging time. Josh has been able to use some PTO so far for his absence from work but that will run out soon. He will need assistance for travel from Wisconsin to Rochester, MN during Tiana’s treatments in the coming months. He will need help with hotel stays, gas, food, rent, and the unknown expensive medical bills to come.
