Hi everyone,
My name is Yasmin, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for my dear friend Kimberley, who runs a small, family-owned ice cream shop called Divaz Sweet Tooth in Negril (Westmoreland parish in Jamaica).
Kimberley and her sister Kimona opened their shop across from Negril’s primary school this year, and it quickly became a community favourite- kids stop by after class, families share sweet treats, and they host occasional birthday cookouts, making the shop a lively neighbourhood hub.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Melissa left its mark on the shop; though it survived, being right on the waterfront meant it suffered damage. Some of the furniture and all essential equipment was lost, and the family has been struggling to recover.
Kimberley and Kimona are the heart behind Divaz Sweet Tooth, running the shop with dedication and love. Kimberley is also a devoted mother to three wonderful children, two of whom are now out of school and despite all the challenges she’s faced, she remains grateful, and determined to reopen her shop and keep serving her community.
I’m hoping to raise up to $1,000 to help Kimberly replace damaged equipment, repair what can be saved, and get her shop back up and running. Every little bit helps- whether it’s £10/$10 or just sharing this page with others.
Donations will go towards:
- Cleaning supplies to remove salt water and sanitise the space
- Replacement tables, chairs damaged by hurricane Melissa
- Carpentry repairs to restore and replace shelving and counters
- Paint, plaster and drywall
- Ice cream machines and freezers
- Blenders, mixers, and other kitchen appliances
- Ice cream mix, cones, cups, spoons, and napkins
- Toppings, sauces, and packaging for take-away orders
- Back-up power/generator
- While the main goal of this fundraiser is to help Kimberley restore her shop after Hurricane Melissa, anything raised above the goal will be used to buy food and essentials to send in barrels to support her family, who are generously housing relatives that lost their home in St. Elizabeth.
Divaz Sweet Tooth is more than just an ice cream shop- it’s a reminder of community, and the joy of small beginnings.
