Last Monday, my husband and I found a starving puppy near the dumpsters in Halifax County. He was weak, scared, and severely malnourished and had an evident rear leg injury. Together we decided to bring him home, feed him, and give him the love he desperately needed. We contacted our local animal control’s office who advised us to hold the dog for the required five days in case the owner came forward. They never did!
On Saturday, September 13th, we rushed him to the vet due to labored breathing. The diagnosis was heartbreaking:
Diaphragmatic hernia — a life-threatening condition that requires urgent surgery and a broken femoral bone near his hip — which also needs surgical repair.
The total cost for both procedures is $7,000, which is beyond our means. We’ve committed to the hernia surgery to save his life and are doing everything we can to explore options for his care.
We couldn’t bear the thought of euthanasia simply because of money. He’s gentle, affectionate, and trusting despite all he’s endured. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to giving him a second chance.
Your gift helps cover:
Anesthesia and surgical costs
Diagnostic testing (bloodwork, imaging, etc.)
Medications and pain management
Hospitalization and supportive care
We’ll post updates, photos, and itemized invoices so you can see exactly how your support is making a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page means the world to us.
His name is Samson, because he is a warrior.
Thank you for helping us fight for this little guy!
