Hi, I'm Kristin, proud dog mom to Sweet Pea (aka The Sweetest of the Peas). She’s been my adventure buddy, emotional support, and best friend through thick and thin. If you know her, you know how full of life and love she is.

I never imagined I’d be starting a fundraiser like this, but here we are. I’m reaching out to Sweet Pea’s fan club and our community for help during a difficult time.

A few days ago, Sweet Pea had a bad fall trying to jump onto the couch and landed wrong. Since then, she has lost mobility in her hind legs and is in visible pain. The vet spent the entire day with her (running X-rays and doing a thorough exam) but unfortunately, the X-rays didn’t show what’s causing her extreme pain and hindside paralysis.

The next urgent step is an MRI, which can help identify if there’s spinal trauma, a disc injury, or another neurological issue. Without it, we can't move forward with treatment, or even know what treatment she needs.

We're scheduled for an MRI this Friday, October 10 (in Alaska, there are only two MRI machines available for pets — one in Fairbanks, one in Palmer).

Initial vet visit: $500+

MRI estimate: $4,000 – $5,600

Potential surgery/travel/care: TBD depending on MRI results

If the MRI shows she needs surgery or specialized care, we may need to travel out of state.

I’m doing everything I can for Sweet Pea and have no hesitation going into medical debt for her — but I could really use some help to avoid that if possible.
