Sweet Malakai and family need our help, one heart

January of 2021 started as a normal new year but quickly changed  as the second week of January Malakai had a seizure.  We took him to our nearest ER a were told he had a seizure and that everyone is entitled to at least one seizure.  So we thought nothing of it but weeks later he had more seizures.  We saw a neurologist so diagnosed him with having focal seizures and she put him on meds and ordered an MRI. That MRI let us know that our boy had a mass in his brain. We were then referred to a neurosurgeon at CHOA who did another MRI. He showed me Malakai scans and I was so confused.  He suggested surgery asap and we agreed.  So March 31st of 2021 our boy had a craineotomy.  After surgery the surgeon told us he couldn't remove all of the tumor because Malakai didn't have one solid tumor.  I was in complete shock.  While in the hospital someone from oncology came to see us. I remember going to Google to ask what's oncology.  After oncology left us I just laid next to Malakai and cried like why is this happening to my sweet boy. You see Malakai comes from of big family.  He has me, his step-dad and 6 siblings.  He's super smart, so respectful,  loyal and loved his football team ( east Paulding Raiders)  more than anything.  I knew he did not deserve this at all. But they say God makes no mistakes.
Few weeks after surgery the pathology report came back that Malakai has HIGH GRADE DIFFUSE GLIOMA.  He started what cancer families call SOC which is standard of care. He did radiation (Proton radiation treatments)  at Emory Proton Center for 6 weeks 5days a week. We have a big family so that was tuff because we had to stay downtown while my husband and our other children stayed home and went to school. Malakai did well with radiation.  He lost his hair and that hurt his feelings but he's always being positive.  Next was chemo.  Now chemo has been very hard on him and us who are close to him. He is not his old self as chemo makes him sleepy,  nauseous and no appetite.  At th
is point our lives have had to change. We have 6 kids and a baby due any day now. Dad had to change his schedule because now Malakai uses a wheelchair and I just can't do the lifting.  I was working before all of this but now I have to be home. Malakai in the past few months has been battling some depression and just having thoughts like he has to beat this cancer. I know his diagnosis sucks but I refuse to let doctors give him a time-line.  We gonna fight this as a family. The Paulding county family has been everything for us. I do not know what we'd do without the donations and love and prayers for our boy. As Malakai says FAMILY IS EVERYTHING!  Keep the prayers and blessings coming. One ❤

This precious family has been through so much let’s help them out during a time of need. Any donations you can give help big or small. Thank you for all the prayers and keep them coming!!
