Sweet Cat Shot & Beaten by My Neighbor
Hamilton is a neighborhood kitty that has lived around my house for about 3 years. She is one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever come across with an adorable personality.
Last night, a neighbor and his daughter were riding by on their bikes and noticed her in the gutter behind my neighbor’s truck. The neighbor is known for hating animals, and for target shooting with his pellet/BB gun. All evidence points to him shooting her. When confronted, he denied it. When she was picked up, he made the comment “thanks for getting it away from my driveway.”
(We are in contact with animal control for criminal prosecution.)
We were able to get her to Westminster Veterinary Group where they agreed to take her for minimal care. Because she is not an owned pet, they won’t do much more for her than give her pain medication and fluids. They believe she is paralyzed, as she’s not moving and doesn’t stay sitting up when placed in an upright position.
We are asking for any kind of financial help for her within the next 24 hours, as that’s the timeline the vet has given us before they make the decision to euthanize or not.
ALL funds raised will be withdrawn and go DIRECTLY to Westminster Veterinary Group (or any specialty vet she is referred to) and WAGS for Hamilton’s care. Estimates for MRIs thus far: Access Specialty Animal Hospital in Torrance (Base exam: $155, base MRI: $2,000) VCA Animal Hospital in Fountain Valley (Base exam: $185, base MRI: $2,200-$2,500) Because of these high-cost estimates, we’re raising the goal to $5,000. If anything were to be not used, I will equally divvy up the remaining balance and return to all donors.
Thank you.
