Hi there, my name is Duncan Shearer and I am continuing to raise funds for Sweet Caroline's Hidden Book Adventure, where we help to get books to those most in need.

This adventure is in fond memory of our Sweet Caroline, who inspired so many young lives as a Teacher and latterly Head Teacher of Moorlands School in Southampton. To help you understand more about the purpose and philosophy of Sweet Caroline's Hidden Book Adventure please read on below.

Through discovery and adventure, we want to promote reading for pleasure and inspire others to share books, encouraging inclusivity and ultimately to get books into the hands of those most in need. Reading for pleasure makes children happy, it builds their confidence, helps them develop empathy, feeds their imagination, and can positively enhance their academic achievement. Reading books together enhances children's well-being and can help improve family relationships and we want people to share their book adventures and wonderful experiences through discovery but importantly re-hiding and sharing books.

Almost 1 million children and young people in the UK do not have a single book at home and 1 in 8 schools do not have a library. The ultimate aim of Sweet Caroline’s Hidden Book Adventure, whilst promoting reading for pleasure for all, is to generate funds to invest in books for those most in need and provide resources to those schools without a library.
