Sweet baby Luke and Thompson Family

Please read and follow Luke’s story on Facebook. It’s a long road ahead with lots of expenses. Anything you can do for this sweet family will bless them and would be greatly appreciated by all who love them.
Below is the first passage from Luke’s blog:

On August 5th, 2020 our world changed forever. This was my 4th pregnancy and at 25 weeks I was already feeling very pregnant with my muscles pulling, not sleeping well and feeling exhausted spending my days looking after the 3 girls. I felt more like I was 35 weeks pregnant. That Wednesday morning started out as usual, getting the 3 girls up and fed and getting our middle child, Avery, ready to head to eye therapy. I had been to the doctor on Monday to check some things out and after an exam she determined that everything looked normal and baby was doing great. As we were driving to therapy I felt some light cramping and felt slight unsettled by it. As we were in the elevator the bleeding started. I quickly made a call to my doctor and waited for Brian to meet me at the therapy clinic. When he arrived to get Avery, I headed straight to my doctors office and the cramping began to happen more frequently. Once I got there, they sent me straight to labor and delivery to be examined. The doctors took a look, my cervix was still completely closed but there was a lot of bleeding. They performed an ultrasound and baby looked good. While we waited for the radiologist to look at the ultrasound contractions began and started to get closer and closer together. About 30 minutes later my OB doctor came in to check my amniotic fluid levels to see if my water had broken (they couldn’t tell because of all the bleeding). She took one look and decided I needed to be transferred by ambulance to a different hospital downtown since I was only 25 weeks along. A moment later we heard words you never want to hear your doctor say, “oh no!”. She quickly said we have a change of plans, we need to get this baby out right now. My cervix was 6cm dilated and the amniotic sac was already in the vaginal canal. I have never been more afraid in my life than I was in that moment. I was no where near ready to meet my son, afraid he may not survive because of how early I was and afraid for my own life because of the emergency situation we were in. As I was quickly wheeled to the OR I prayed so hard and immediately had a huge sense of peace come over me and I was calm, totally trusting what God had planned. Within 5 minutes I was on the operating table, given a quick spinal epidural and he was out. He cried when he came out and that was such a promising moment. He arrived at 1:58pm at 25 weeks, weighing 2lbs 3oz and 13.4 inches. Luke came out a fighter. We weren’t ready for his arrival via emergency c-section but we know God has plans that are not always our own. He was intubated and then given some medicine to help his lungs and was strong enough to be moved to a cpap machine that helps him breathe more on his own. After about 36 hours he started to get tired and needed to be reintubated. On Saturday the 8th the team made the call to have him transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital in downtown which is a level 4 NICU and one of the best in the country. It’s going to be a very long road ahead in the next 3-4 months for our son and for our family but we know God has it all under control. It has been so amazing to hear of all the success stories of other micro preemies born early like him and we are hopeful that our son will have a great success story of his own. We are over the moon to welcome Luke into our family and love him more than words can express. Please continue to pray for him and our family. We feel the prayers and appreciate them so much!
