Sweet Baby Atlas Needs Our Help

Donation protected
You never think it will be you. And one day your world changes. With permission from the family, here is their heartbreaking and hopeful story in their words...

"Originally "Frank", he came to us as a surprise. Our world was rocked knowing we would have to buy a house and now will have 4 kids... pregnancy was long but normal and he arrived on his own time (yet again!).   January 29th at 3:36 am. We were told there were concerns for his breathing levels and continued to watch him as we were held an extra day at Munson.

When we finally got home it was wonderful and the kids were excited to meet baby Atlas!  We only got 1 week with him when the morning of Friday, February 5th, Atlas stopped breathing.  He was unconscious and paramedics were quickly called. Atlas died in that ambulance for about 10 minutes and decided to come back to us once more. After spending all day the Nicu in Munson he was airlifted to Devos where we have been ever since.

A multitude of problems were discovered, some have been solved and some still a mystery. Atlas had surgery on February 11th to fix a diaphragmatic hernia on his right side which was causing his liver to push into his lung. We are facing some brain damage due to oxygen loss and have a long road ahead of us. So far, 2021 is proving to be worse than 2020 but our strong little Atlas made leaps and bounds in his recovery.

We all need your prayers and support as we navigate this difficult time. We are going to start commuting more to manage the house, my business  and of course, love on and snuggle our other kids Lenix, Remy and Hazel.

With Covid, there are many regulations we are having to follow making it hard to all be together at this time. Thankful for Miss Danielle who is there taking such good care of the kids as well as our parents, Mary and so many others who have offered their help.  DeVos has taken such great care of us while we have been down here and we are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from the community.  We truly feel blessed and can't thank you all enough. Please keep Atlas in your thoughts as he has a long journey ahead of him. "

No one likes to ask for help. It requires a huge degree of vulnerability. So I'm asking on behalf Katie and JP Allgaier. We believe insurance will cover most of Atlas's expenses but with a new business and having to take time off of work, income is a real concern.

If you know and love them as we do, consider blessing them with daily prayer and a financial gift if you are able.  The uncertainty is overwhelming. This boy is a fighter and we believe in miracles. We will continue to update you on his progress through this page.

Thank you for your consideration.
