Our sweet friend Sweeney sustained some severe injuries in a moped wreck last week and needs our help.

Their spine and a rib were fractured and they suffered extensive road rash on both of their arms and legs.

It's going to be a long road to recovery and any little bit helps.

They are expected to be laid up for at least 8 weeks. It is unclear when they will be able to return to work as the work they do is often physically demanding. Spinal injuries take a significant time to heal. We are hoping to raise enough money to bolster Sweeney in this time and afford them a modest cushion to rely on as they are increasingly mobile so that they aren’t forced to return to work too soon, running the risk of re-injury. Sweeney gets one chance to heal and we want them to do it right.

When it rains it pours. Their dog, Peggy, also had to visit the emergency room this weekend to treat an infection in her salivary gland. Their other dog, Marge, had to have a series of procedures to remove cancer not long ago, putting Sweeney into debt they are not fully recovered from. Add to this, in the process of assessing their injuries from the accident, possible underlying health concerns came to light for our dear friend. They are scared, stressed, and overwhelmed. Currently, Sweeney is uninsured and is covering medical expenses out of pocket. One tangible way to balm their anxiety about this compendium of crises is to help alleviate the financial burden of it all. Little by little, a little becomes a lot. Together, we can make a big impact on Sweeney’s ability to comfortably move through and past this experience.

This fund will cover their bills, rent, medications, doctor visits, pet care, and basic life expenses.
