Hope Alliance has been working in Nepal for many years (hopealliance.org.au). On Saturday 25 April, an earthquake 7.9 in magnitude rocked the nation. The epicentre was near Gorkha, the region our village of Lhi is in. Our team in Kathmandu have just received a call from the village of Lhi after days without contact. Every home has been destroyed or badly damaged, however no-one is hurt, which is a miracle. The call cut out before we could ask about our school and community buildings, so we're hoping they're still standing and can provide refuge for the families. We're still on a wait list for a helicopter and trying to source supplies (many shops are closed). We're devastated that the village is in ruins, but so thankful that no lives are lost. As soon as we can assess the full damage we'll work out a strategy to help rebuild. All funds raised will go directly to getting aid and assistance to this community and to help them rebuild their lives.
