We are asking for your support for the Swartwood family. On Father’s Day 2023 David very unexpectedly had a major stroke at just 46 years old. David had always been an active, seemingly healthy guy who went to the gym regularly so the stroke came as a shock to everyone. It was discovered through testing that this was actually a second stroke. The MRI showed a previous small stroke that they never realized he had, as he didn’t show any symptoms. David spent 10 days in the hospital followed by a month in an acute rehabilitation center where he had to relearn how to walk, talk, bathe, dress, feed himself, and do all the normal everyday tasks that the rest of us take for granted. David returned home the end of July to continue his recovery. In September he had another very small stroke and was hospitalized again where it was discovered he had a stenosis in his right kidney and has stage 2 chronic kidney disease. It was found that the stenosis caused his blood pressure to skyrocket, which led to the stroke. Further tests also discovered a tumor in his kidney, which is believed at this time to be benign. He will continue to work ongoing with a kidney specialist in hopes to keep his kidney disease from progressing further and requiring a kidney transplant. David also continues to recover from the stroke and struggles with aphasia and apraxia. He has difficulty communicating and understanding others. He continues with occupational and speech therapy in his recovery. In the months since David’s stroke, the family has had to deal with large ongoing medical expenses and paying for home health care out of pocket. They have gone from being a two income family to a single income family trying to make ends meets while also paying for medical expenses. The week before Christmas David and Lindsey’s daughter, Lydia, was hospitalized unexpectedly with pneumonia, bringing the family to 3 total hospital stays within the past 6 months. We are setting up this Go Fund Me to help relieve the family of some of the financial burden of medical expenses and making ends meet. David will require ongoing medical care and is currently unable to work as he continues to recover from his stroke leaving Lindsey to carry the load herself. If you feel so inclined, we ask that you please help us support this family during this very difficult season of life. Any little bit would help and would be most appreciated by the family. Thank you in advance for your support!
