As many of you know, I experienced my tragic accident this time last year. I was shot at four times. Two bullets landed in my chest. One collapsing my right lung and the other lodged in my spine, resulting in paralysis. One bullet went through my shoulder, breaking my scapula and minimizing the usage of my right arm & hand. The final bullet went through my wrist, obliterating my carpal bones. I had undergone two reconstructive surgeries. The doctors gave me a 1% chance of walking.
Since then, everything has changed.
At first, I was fighting for my life. Then, fighting to regain my mobility. I had to relearn how to do everything with only one arm. I underwent a bone grafting procedure on my wrist & worked hard to regain strength back over time. I’ve been spending most of my time doing PT and OT.
In physical therapy, I’ve been working towards being mobile with my paralysis chest down. This includes transferring from bed to chair, chair to bathtub, and into cars. Occupational therapy has been teaching me how to do daily activities. Even getting dressed on my own was something I struggled to do at first. I eventually was able to take my dog Rosco out on walks on my own!
Each day I’m trying to adjust to what is currently my situation and working towards getting back to my norm. I’ve been working so hard to get stronger. I plan to drive again and live on my own again really soon. I plan to do so many other regular things again.
Before I ask -
I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your support during the hardest period of my life. Your prayers, encouragement, support, check ins, donations, etc. have not gone unnoticed, they’ve helped me get through to the other side of this journey. I know many of you have already donated, however, since I’ve been unable to work for the past year I kindly ask for more donations if you can considering my expenses continue to add up.
