Swan Song - Short Film
Donation protected
Hello and tansi!
I'm Amika Lerat-Yeo, and I'm part of the InFocus Film School team behind Swan Song.
Synopsis
Our final film tells the story of Shiloh, a young woman who finds solace and self-expression through poetry as she battles addiction and mental illness. Despite her undeniable talent, Shiloh's lack of confidence leaves her feeling alienated. Surviving a suicide attempt sparks a new drive to connect, yet her self-destructive tendencies lead her toward isolation.
Importance of the Script
Swan Song is a psychological drama that dives deep into the human experience, exploring themes of suicide, self-harm, and addiction. What sets our film apart is its unique perspective, drawn from my own struggles with mental health and addiction, as well as my distinct cultural background. This personal and universal narrative weaves together Indigenous wisdom with emotional intensity. As the writer and director, I've infused my personal journey into the film's heart, creating an immersive experience with powerful performances and a visually captivating style. Swan Song champions the human spirit's resilience while advocating for understanding and support.
Feasibility
However, with creating a great film comes great cost. Expenses of a location, equipment, food, production design and even more, gives us a bit of a challenge so if you're willing to help make our dreams come true - donations will result in your name being in the end credits :)
Thank you
By sharing a deeply human perspective, I hope to raise awareness and spark dialogue about these critical issues, while also aiming to provide the same kind of assistance that these scripts provided me - to remind me I'm not alone.
