Swabi School
Donation protected
Dearest friends,
My name is Gulmina, and together with my grandmother and my best friend Anya, I'm raising funds to expand the first school for girls in a small under-served village in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
Having completed my education at Teachers College, Columbia University I was finally able to realize my lifelong dream to ensure that the children in my village not only have access to a school but one where critical thinking, freedom of expression and the arts are integrated into curricula.
I'm asking for your help so we can start by providing these children with basic necessities to not only fulfill their educational experience but turn it into a positive, nurturing and safe one. We still have a long way to go, but we really need your help in getting started!
We currently have a classroom of 22 girls and 3 boys who attend school diligently. Our two teachers are some of the highest educated women in the village.
The children are currently studying outdoors. Your donations will help us with the following items which are needed immediately, given the harsh winter conditions in Swabi:
Building costs: Verandah, well, bathrooms and classrooms (~$7,500)
School supplies: Whiteboard, uniforms, shoes, tarps, books, notebooks, stationery, art supplies (~$1,500)
Teachers: Salary for a full-time teacher is $60 per month. We currently have one full-time and one part-time teacher. Total costs for both are $720 + $360 = $1,080.
Every donation can make a difference. Thank you for your trust in us!
With gratitude,
Gulmina
