Help Support My Dad’s Cancer Battle

Hi, my name is Chantal and I’m fundraising on behalf of my dad, who is currently fighting lung cancer.

He recently underwent a lobectomy (surgery to remove part of his lung), and is now preparing to begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks. This journey has already been incredibly tough — physically, emotionally, and financially.

My dad Joe Houle, is a kind, funny, a deeply caring person, and the most generous man who would give the shirt off his back for you! He loves spending time with his cat, Cuddles, relaxing with a good movie, watching fast car shows, listening to podcasts, and hanging out with his son Jordan, his daughter (me), and his son-in-law Matt. Family means everything to him.

He’s also my brother Jordan’s main caregiver. Jordan has autism and other mental health challenges, and my dad has always been there for him, making sure he’s safe, supported, and loved. It’s incredibly important that we beat this cancer so that my dad can get back to being that steady presence in Jordan’s life — and also begin planning for Jordan’s long-term care and future.

As his daughter, I’ll be his primary support and caregiver throughout treatment. I’ll be helping him with appointments, daily care, meals, and everything else he needs during this time. While I’m grateful I can be there for him, this also means taking time away from work, we’re already on the lower end of income earners myself and my husband, and my dad is on a fixed income, and we’re trying to juggle a lot with limited resources and a growing financial strain…

To make things harder, our car has been breaking down. I’ve already had to replace several parts recently, and we still don’t have a safe, reliable vehicle to get him to chemo and follow-up care. Transportation is one of our biggest concerns right now.

We’re asking for help to ease the financial strain and make sure my dad can focus fully on healing. Donations will help cover:

• Reliable transportation: repairs or replacement for our current vehicle

• Gas, parking, and travel costs for chemo and appointments

• Groceries, medical supplies, and comfort items to support his healing

• Daily expenses while I take time off to provide care

• Future planning to ensure my brother is supported long-term
