We need a new roof, we're leaking

Donation protected
Hello Friends,

You know they say that when it rains, it pours; the problem now is that I never expected it to be dripping through my roof into the living room ceiling.

As many of you know, Debra and I have been through a significant number of challenges lately. For a minute, we were making it on her salary alone, as I was so traumatized by the death of my mother and then my son last year that I could barely function at work. Of course, I’m getting counseling and working through the grief and loss. I just started working again after three months. The good thing is that I’m getting back on my feet.

Our roof is leaking and has been whenever it rains for a few days (that we have noticed). We have already done the work on asking for quotes and looking into financing. But this is scary. The fact is we need a new roof. Every time it rains, we fear the worst and are reminded that we need to get this done. We had our handyman look at it; an awesome person from church went up in our attic and took pictures. It has been slowly leaking and has just begun to penetrate the ceiling in our living room.

Those who know Debra and I are aware of how we have helped so many people, and I literally had to ask for the opinion of a few close friends. I asked, “Do you think it is appropriate for me to ask for help for this.” One said, “When things like this happen, I’ve found that God is usually trying to tell us something” he went on to say, “I’ve known you and Debra to be givers who have helped so many people over the years, and while it is easy to give, for some, it is much more difficult to ask.” Had us pegged. Therefore, I’m stepping out, being transparent, dropping my pride, and letting my friends know we need your help.

Honestly, it was hard even to consider asking for help. We know everyone is struggling. Anything donated will go towards the roof, and the goal is set based on an average range quote.

Again, we appreciate that you took the time to read, think about, or support us in any way. Please feel free to share.

With all of our love and gratitude,
