Hello,
My name is Ronda Steinhour. I am creating this Go Fund Me page for my friend and co-worker, Debbie Coombs who is about to incur major medical expenses.
Debbie had a routine surgery a couple weeks ago. She began having shortness of breath. We figured she probably had Pneumonia or a PE. On 12/23 (two days before Christmas) she went to her primary care physician who sent hr to the Emergency Room to be worked up for Pneumonia or a PE. During this ER visit she was told she had a very large mediastinum mass and was admitted to the hospital to have a biopsy.
On 12/24/2015 Debbie underwent a needle biopsy and a thoracentesis (where they removed fluid from her lungs). She was allowed to go home on oxygen after these procedures. On Monday 12/28/2015 the biopsy results came back as malignant thymoma.
Debbie is currently is a state of shock and knows very little about what lies ahead for her. She meets with a multi-disciplinary team of an Oncologist, Thoracic surgeon, and other important specialists next Monday 1/4/2015. At that point we will have a better idea about the things which lie ahead. Her treatments will likely involve surgery, radiation, and possibly chemo once she has more information. I will update as we know more.
For those of you who do not know Debbie, she is a nurse who is certified in Epic and works as a liaison between the clinical and technology groups at a large hospital. She is always upbeat and has a great sense of humor. She is one of the sweetest people I know.
Debbie does have health insurance but since the 1st of the year is quickly approaching her deductible and out-of-pocket expenses will need to be paid all while she is unable to work. Her short-term disability (60%) will barely be enough for her to live on let alone pay all of the medical expenses she will be incurring shortly.
I ask if you can afford to donate to this wonderful woman’s medical expenses, please do so. If not please share Debbie’s story. All money collected will go directly to Debbie for medical an living expenses.
Thanks for reading!
Ronda
