With the families permission, we, the sisters and brothers of Arlene share the following.
Our sister, Arlene very recently lost her beloved husband, Edgar, of 51 years. He got sick in May 2018 and was diagnosed with Anca Vasculitis, which is an autoimmune disease that attacks your own body and in turn causes kidney failure. To put this disease in remission the doctors administered a medication treatment that had little to no affect except to make Edgar very sick. While these treatments were being done he would need to be put on dialysis 3x a week, which could not be done in Red Lake where he really wanted to be, at home. They had to travel back and forth to Thunder Bay for treatments and once they started dialysis he had to stay in Thunder Bay, which they did from August to September. In September while continuing to battle this disease with medication treatments he caught pneumonia. With the medication treatment, the dialysis as well as the treatment for pneumonia, he couldn't win the fight. Sadly Edgar succumbed to the disease and pneumonia and passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on September 30, 2018 with all his family by his side.
Arlene never left his side the whole time he was sick and with the help of her family they did everything they could for him, emotionally and financially.
Unfortunately Arlene is left with debt, every day bills and of course the cost of the beautiful service that was held to celebrate Edgar's life. Along with what was spent with all the travelling back and forth, Arlene unable to work while caring for Edgar and him only receiving CPP and OAS, she cannot keep up.
We have set a goal but any donation, prayer & well wishes will be greatly appreciated and will help her out tremendously.
If we can do something to help her out just a little bit, then we will try.
Edgar will forever be missed not only by his wife and family, but by everyone who knew him.
