In October 2025 we lost our beloved 18 year old daughter Meg to meningitis, specifically MenB.

After her death we learned the tragic news that anyone born before 2015 hasn't been routinely vaccinated against MenB. The vaccination they receive in secondary school only protects against the MenACWY strains.

Last year 100% of cases in the 15-19 age demographic were MenB.

We are campaigning for a routine MenB vaccination on the NHS for all 15-24 year olds.

We have since learned that students, especially those in shared accommodation are at a higher risk as 1 in 4 are carriers of the bacteria that causes meningitis. We were also unaware that there is a MenB vaccine available privately from high street pharmacies.

To help raise awareness Megs friends and family have joined us in taking on the challenge of a lifetime by jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft!

Everyone who knows Hels (Megs Mum) will know she is absolutely petrified of heights but is determined to embrace Megs zest for life and do this in her honour.

We feel very privileged that, Liv, Welsh Dan, Ginger Dan, Roux, Taylor, Ellie, Lucas and Aunty Sarah are joining Hels and I to take on this challenge!

We are doing the challenge over 2 dates one in Wiltshire (27th June) and one in Swansea (2nd August - Megs birthday).

The funds raised will be going to Meningitis Now to help continue raising awareness and supporting families affected by meningitis. We would appreciate any support you can give.

Meningitis Now is the first meningitis patient group in the world, founders of the meningitis movement and the only charity dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK. Since 1986 they have invested over £12.7m in early stage research.

The money I raise will help fund vital awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease (it's not just the glass test!), while supporting further research into meningitis and helping provide everything from counselling to adaptive equipment for those whose lives have been changed forever by meningitis.
