Help Jane come HOME!

Have you ever had a friend that you thought the world of? Such a person that you fail words trying to explain their magnitude to others? Well, Jane is that friend to me. We have shared countless hours chatting about all things life. She has been a significant mentor to me, and I am confident I am not the only one. Jane needs a home that can accommodate her electric wheelchair. She deserves the dignity of using a bathroom independently and not a commode in her bedroom. My name is Sam, and I implore you to read this story.

A couple of months ago, I got a phone call from Jane that changed my life. At first, it sounded like a "goodbye," but as she continued speaking, a miracle happened, just like the one I am asking of all of you. She was not telling me she would end it; instead, Jane asked for my help. I was honored, excited, and incredibly overwhelmed all at once.

Jane's story is heavy and full of particular events that no one could've outrun. But, her story isn't just about the medical conditions she has. Her story is of a beautiful, unwavering soul who has always seen the light in all things and people. She is the most inspirational and positive person despite her challenges.

Jane was born prematurely in 1958 in Providence, RI, and after spending weeks in a NICU, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and sent home. She mentions she was lucky in that it only affected her legs. After years of surgeries and physical therapy, Jane was able to walk at age five and was chosen to be the Poster Child of Cerebral Palsy. Jane was teased growing up, and with a physically capable family around her, she would always be found alone, emerged in a book. Maybe her way of escaping the confines of her body. She worked very hard in school and achieved a dream job in her dream place, Los Angeles, CA. Refusing her born label, Jane created a world where she was thriving. Jane was finally in Emerald City, living her dreams. That was until she hit 30 and received the news that would send her dream life sideways. Jane was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. But Jane did not surrender to her medical conditions. Not once. She started going through life even harder. Volunteering at APLA, helping feed the homeless, and at the LA Reading Project, teaching kids and adults how to read and write were just a few of her selfless acts. She feels extremely fortunate to have not been wheelchair-bound much sooner in life, preventing her from helping in the community the way she did. Jane never saw her disabilities. Instead, she saw her beloved David Bowie in concert many times along with many other unforgettable experiences. Eventually, her chances to physically help others and live loud came to an end as her health started to get the better of her. Jane and her incredibly loving husband William moved to Orange County, where the warmth helps her body immensely. Jane can no longer work and is confined to a motorized wheelchair. She lives in a two-bedroom apartment that is not handicapable. For four years now, Jane has been forced to use a commode at the end of her bed because she broke her leg trying to maneuver in her tiny bathroom space. She only receives in-home aid when she has a serious incident, but they all say the same thing. She needs a bigger space. She is extremely capable; however, she is constantly limited due to not fitting the wheelchair in a room. William works over 60 hours/week from home to keep up with expenses while being Jane's solitary caregiver. Jane has exhausted all community resources, government programs, and social services options. It seemed like there was no more help out there, but there is still help. Jane has me and ALL OF YOU! Jane can't make her life any different, but we can help make it more comfortable. Jane held a few elite professional titles in her career and is very good with finances and numbers. She knows they can make it work. They just need the home. Simple enough, right! Jane found a manufactured home that meets all her living requirements completely. They can afford all monthly expenses on the property and plan to retire and live out their lives there. Now, here's where we all get to come in. If, with the help from all of you, we got this out in the social media world, I know we could make this dream come true. A little from a lot of people creates a world of difference. If only 8,500 people saw this and donated just $10, we would meet our goal! Anything can help this vision come to life. We hope everyone can share it on their page or social group in our hopes of friends of friends spreading it even further. The world can be scary and lonely like we are all in a rat race to the grave. Yet Jane doesn't see it that way. Her outlook on life is beyond inspiring. Please help me prove to Jane that she has been right about us and the world all along. It truly is a profound space filled with miraculous people where anything is possible!

Thank you so much for your time in hearing Jane's story. We pray you can find the time and means to help us achieve our dream. May the Universe bless every one of you!
