To all loving friends and family,
There's not enough powerful words to describe the woman that Karen is. On top of being the most wonderful Mother, relative, loyal friend, and Cancer's worst enemy; she was a fighter, a best friend, an inspiration, a leader, and a selfless woman who changed people's lives every single day.
As you all know Karen fought a courageous battle against cancer for the past 8 years. She kicked it's ass up until April 22, 2015 when she was called up to Heaven. Karen was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer 8 years ago, followed by Bone Cancer 3 short years later. And recently, she was diagnosed with Liver Cancer. This past February, Karen was nearly winning again and in remission for the 3rd time. Unfortunately as of March, the liver cancer became more aggressive than anyone would have liked to see. In the past 10 days, the cancer took over half of her liver and became drastically fatal. Even in those last days, Karen still believed she could win this battle and never stopped fighting. We all believed in her. During her courageous fight, Karen was in her own home surrounded by her loving family members Kevin Jr., Kalyn, Kevin Sr., and her Mother Diana. Karen was comfortable and cared for every minute of the day during her extreme battle.
A note from Karen's family:
To all Mom's friends and family, we thank you so much for all the kind notes, messages, and pictures you have shared with us. It's absolutely wonderful to know that she was as kind to all of you as she was to us. It's also incredible to see how many people she touched and how many lives she has been apart of and changed over the years.
We truly appreciate everyone's condolences and hope that you never forget this amazing woman. Always keep her close to your heart and she will forever live on in all of our memories. Again, we thank you for all the nice messages we have received about our Mom. We love you all.
With Love,
Kalyn, Little Kev, & Big Kev
The family has decided to do a private ceremony in which they will follow out Karen's last wishes. She will be cremated and spread across the Caribbean Sea from Puerto Adventuras, Mexico. Her favorite family vacation spot.
In lieu of sending flowers or gifts, Karen's wishes were always for her children. There has been a fund set up for her children to keep their education, hopes, and dreams alive.
