SV Warrior Fire - Mortell Family Lost Everything
Donation protected

Dave wrote what happened on Facebook: “One minute you're loving life in the Bahamas and the next moment your boat has burnt into the water and you've lost everything. You take every precaution and build what you think is the safest boat, and yet a stove fire takes it all away. Today we lost our dogs, our boat, and personal belongings. My family is safe but we are in shock. I did my best. Beth did her best. The sailing community (and now friends) rallied and tried to help. We thought the fire was out. I did CPR on our dogs. It was not enough. The fire consumed it all. Our dogs were amazing. They loved the sailing life. They were taken from us far too early. Their 7th birthday was just this past Friday. We will regroup and decide what's next.”
If you’re willing and able to donate here, every little bit will help as the rebuild their lives. They will also appreciate your prayers. These are good people who caught a tremendously bad break. If you know Dave well enough, you know cancer didn’t destroy them. They will face this set back the same way they faced that one…with strength, courage and determination. They’ll rely on their Faith as always, but they need to lean on community, too.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for reading this story. The Mortell’s are forever grateful for anything you can do to help. Forever grateful for your thoughts and prayers.
With Love and Gratitude! God Bless You!
