SV Salinity Support

Like many cruisers, sailing abroad and living aboard was a life dream for our friends Wally and Debbie Wilkerson. A year ago, they became full-time cruisers aboard SV Salinity after selling their home, vehicles, and other belongings. Wally and Debbie planned for many adventures throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean, in the near future. That dream ended abrupt and tragically on March 11, 2020, when their dinghy was hit by a water taxi off of Stocking Island, Exumas. Sadly, Wally did not survive the accident.

SV Salinity's dinghy was destroyed leaving Debbie without day-to-day transportation, and creating a host of other challenges, as she is traveling outside of her native country away from family. Unexpected expenses including flights and hotel stays, temporary vessel storage/mooring, vessel transport out of the country, and other expenses are adding up quickly.

Wally was a kind, gentle soul who loved his time here in the Bahamas. He was an incredibly likeable person, the type of person anyone could befriend. He leaves behind his wife, a son, daughter, and grandchildren who will be heartbroken. He will be dearly missed by many friends.

Please consider providing financial support and condolences to Debbie as a memorial for fellow cruiser and friend, Wally, during this difficult time.
