Suzy was in a car accident in Waco several years ago and was struck broadside by a large pickup truck. The driver ran a red light at a high rate of speed and crushed her vehicle. She has suffered with neck issues since then. About 5 years ago, she hurt her neck again when she sat down in her chair at home. She had forgotten she had placed a large wooden cross that a friend had given her in the chair. When she sat back, her back hit the cross so hard it made a hole in her wall. She suffered for over a month with horrible pain and finally asked a friend to take her to the ER. After trips to several doctors that did not help, she was finally able to get relief when on another ER visit, the ER doctor had an MRI done and immediately sent to her to have a spinal epidural performed on her neck. She was told that the treatment would only last a year, but it lasted five years. The pain has since returned to the point she is missing work and sleeping in her recliner in order to rest. She had another spinal epidural performed on her neck last week, but it gave her only slight relief. I went with her to a neurosurgeon this morning. He told her she needed to have surgery that involves an incision in the front of her neck. He is going to repair the damage and place a piece of titanium in her neck where one of the bulging discs is pushing against her spinal cord. Her left arm is numb and she has shooting pains that go all the way down to her left leg. Suzy has insurance, but as we all know, insurance doesn't cover what it used to. The doctor won't even schedule her for surgery until she pays them the 20% down required which is $1,869.85. She will also have to do the same with the anesthesiologist and Providence Hospital. She doesn't have it, and I don't have it. Please give to Suzy whatever you can, however small it may be. Anything will help. She needs this surgery as soon as possible. Doctor told her today that if she is involved in a car accident or suffers any trauma to that area in her neck, she may suffer paralysis or even possibly death.
