On June 18th an escaped burn pile at the OARS boathouse in Grants Pass, OR tragically resulted in the total loss of OARS guide Suzy Matsubara's motor home and many of her worldly possessions. Thankfully no one was injured beyond mild smoke inhalation, but Suzy could really use our help in dealing with the hardships associated with this accident.
One of Suzy's colleagues at OARS said it this way: "Suzy is one of the kindest, warmest and most welcoming people I have met on the river. Her enthusiasm for sharing the places she guides is contagious, and her genuine interest and care for people makes her feel like an old high school friend you’re meeting up with for an adventure. Simply put, she makes the overall experience simply better just by being there. "
A past guest and co-worker added "we wish her the best and would always help her in any way we can – and we know she would do the same for us."
OARS will match 100% of any donations made by OARS employees by July 14th.
