Suzie Maka Helps Us All! Now She Needs Our Help!

Suzie Maka is a huge supporter of the Central Florida music community. Even before she and George started A Taste of Florida Promotions, she could be found out on weekends seeing many of our well-loved local bands. When she started A Taste of Florida, she worked hard at establishing contacts in the club scene and getting bands networked. 

But now things have changed. 

Suzie has struggled with thyroid issues her whole life and her condition was well-managed with medication. Things have taken a turn for the worse due to a perfect storm of variables: her doctor of many years retired without notice, leaving her without access to her medical records or prescription refills; her company insurance premium went up to an unaffordable level; and now, her Hashimoto's (thyroid) Disease, without medication, has left her too weak to stand, and a goiter in her throat has made it hard to talk, eat or swallow.

Her first thought, though, has been the bands and musicians she is letting down, by not being able to book, promote or attend gigs. But it's time for her to put herself first!

We can help! The Central Florida music community has always been great at rallying around folks who need help. I know we can do it again.

A benefit concert is in the planning stages for the future, but Suzie's need for medications (which means a new doctor, new blood tests and a host of other medical costs), is immediate.

Every day that goes by, she feels a little worse and can do a lot less, and she's scared. She feels helpless.
