My mother is hands-down the most postive, selfless, and kind person I have ever known. She manages to touch just about every life she comes in contact with. My family and I have decided to start this campaign to help take the financial stress out of a terrible situation.
This November my mom, Suzette Key (AKA Momma Sue, Susie, Q, Suby and many other loving titles) was diagnosed with stage IV renal cell carcinoma--kidney cancer. This means she has a 7cm tumor in her left kidney and the disease has metastasized to both her lungs, liver, brain, and spine. Though we've had several setbacks since we've began this journey, my mom has maintained an incredibly positive attitude and still puts everyone else in her life first. Now is the time she needs to be cared for!
When we first discovered she had cancer, she was in terrible pain because the tumors in her spine had fractured her vertebrae. In an effort to get her out of pain, a procedure to repair the fractures was done, but caused several complications. She suffered a small heart attack due to a few days without her normal blood thinner to lessen the risk of the procedure. Then, the next day she was diagnosed with double pneaumonia. She spent Thanksgiving in the hospital, and only got to spend a couple days at home before she was back in the hospital again because the infected kidney had failed. Now she is back at home and beginning treatments to kill the cancer, and taking anti-cancer medication to help stop the spreading. These treatments will continue for the entirety of her life.
On top of all this, we have been struggling with the government to approve social security disability. Although all her doctors have signed off on her disability, the delays are endless and she currently does not have any income whatsoever. As you might guess, these medical expenses are adding up, as well as every day expenses such as rent, utilites, etc. We are asking for help to take one major stress off her plate so she will know that at least one part of this is taken care of.
It took a lot of convincing for my mother to even agree to create this page, because if you know her, you know she's VERY strong and even more stubborn. However, we ask for your help because I've never known a woman who gives more love to her family, friends, and even strangers and now is an opportunity for us to help show her how much she is loved. If you can give----even a dollar is appreciated; my momma, me, and my entire family will be forever grateful. We plan to fight this with all we've got and do it with smiles on our faces.
Your donation will be used to help pay for medical expenses, transportation, and living expenses until we get a positive decision from social security disability.
Prayers, positive thinking, and support means the world to her. She also loves to hear from you. Please leave your name so we can make sure to reach out and thank you for your generosity. Merry Christmas!
