Let me tell you about my best friend.  I've been blessed to have her in my corner my entire life.  We went to grade school, high school and off to college together.  She's been there for it all!  She is patient, caring, loyal and extremely generous.  To know her is to love her.  My prayer is that we can all pull together to help her and here's why.....
Suzanne was diagnosed with diabetes on her 25th birthday and has suffered from its side effects ever since.  In August 2015 she developed an infection in her right foot that started as cellulitis and resulted in the loss of a bone and a large section of tissue from her foot.  She was out of work for 4 months and had to undergo extensive physical therapy, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy to assist the healing process.  In addition, she was diagnosed with neuropathy and Charcot Foot, a degenerative, progressive condition that causes the bones and joints of the foot to collapse and can lead to amputation.  She was paid for her time off of work via an advancement in PTO (to be paid back) and the generosity of her co-workers who donated some of their personal vacation time but the medical bills have become overwhelming.
In addition, over the past two years she has had some vision issues related to her diabetes requiring laser surgery on her right eye.  Fast forward to last month.  Suzanne has now been diagnosed with a condition that is related to Diabetic Retinopathy called Vitreous Hemorhhage and she has lost sight in BOTH of her eyes leaving her almost completely blind for the past 4 weeks.  She now requires eye surgery, one eye at a time to restore her sight.  She can't see so she can't work.  She has no paid time off as she is still paying off the advancement she received previously so she is not getting paid and will be out for an undetermined amount of time.
This is where we come in.  With the loss of her income and the mounting medical bills, her family is sinking.  We have all had times in our life when we have struggled and needed the help of others.  This is that time for Suzanne and her family.  She would never ask so I am going to take the initiative.
Family, co-workers and friends of Suzanne and I......Holy Family, St. Elizabeth Academy and Rockhurst friends........our Facebook families.......PLEASE HELP!  If all of you reading this donate something......anything, we could raise enough to cover most of her medical expenses and help lessen the stress of this already devastating ordeal. Every little bit counts so please donate what you can. Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you are able to help, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
