As many of you know, our dear Sue was recently diagnosed with a bowel obstruction. After undergoing surgery to remove the scar tissue, they discovered a cancerous tumor. Shortly after being released from the hospital, she had to be re-admitted for critical care due to a severe wound infection. On Friday, March 24th, 2023, a massive pulmonary embolism sent Sue into cardiac arrest three separate times. Sue was subsequently placed on life support that day. The power of prayer, the strength of our family & friends, and the gentle hands of Sue’s medical team have miraculously brought her back to us.

Sue is a loved teacher at the Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Ocala, Florida. The many hand-made student cards the family has received and the daily visits from her amazing co-workers have provided many laughs, happy tears, and a sense of community we can’t even describe. Witnessing the outpouring of love and support toward Sue and her family during this time has been incredible. Maya Angelou said, “...people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Sue has always made us all feel special, loved, and accepted by just being Sue!

Although the road to recovery is long, Sue and her family are strong and ready! We want to stand with the Leiva family and show our love by providing some relief with upcoming medical/living expenses.
