Help save Tux!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jenna and I am fundraising to help my friend Maren save her puppy, Tux!
Maren adopted Tux from Big Dog Ranch Rescue on November 6th. Less than 3 weeks in her care, and she had to rush him to an emergency vet on Thanksgiving night.
He threw up 10-12 times in a span of 2.5 hours out of nowhere. The ER vet took an x-ray, blood work, an IV for fluids etc to make sure he didn’t consume something earlier that she was unaware of.
With no answers and signs of liver toxicity, Tux stayed overnight and they scheduled to get an emergency internist the next morning to do an ultrasound, possibly take a biopsy on the liver, and call ASPCA toxicologist to log a case number.
Tux now has an emergency doctor and 2 nurses with him 24/7, as well as a vet and toxicologist on it from ASPCA. Meanwhile he has been on an IV, medication, antibiotics, and vitamin K amount other things.
His ultrasound showed every organ normal aside from his liver, which is abnormal (acute hepatopathy.) Basically, it has an injury whether it be toxins, allergic reaction etc. (they still don’t know) but it’s acute liver disease that can be reversed if treated early enough.
Tux is still being monitored closely to see if his liver enzyme numbers go down- which will be the tell tail sign if treatment is working or not.
No tumors or masses have been found and he is negative for lepto. We are waiting for his liver numbers to go down so he can go home so he is getting blood drawn every few days for next two weeks.
In the short time Maren has had Tux, she has fallen in love with him- but so far this has been an unexpected hit of an upwards of $7k and with no actual answers yet, we know she can expect to see that number increase. Unfortunately, without help, she will be unable to continue getting help/finding answers for Tux, and she’ll have to say goodbye to her newest bestie.
She was trying to do a good deed by adopting this dog- can we all pitch in to ease the financial burden off of Maren’s shoulders- especially during the holidays!
Thank you so much. Myself, Maren and Tux really appreciate your compassion and generosity!
