Suu and Mom's road to recovery

The nurses apparently call me "Wonder Woman" because I tried to help my mom put out a fire, only for it to go wrong. As a result, it caused a number of burns - enough to be flown from Reno to Las Vegas to get the proper care.  At the end of October 16th, the palm of my left hand, the back of my right hand, and my chest wound up being victims of an oil fire. My mom also got a nasty burn on her right hand, as she witnessed her daughter burst into flames in front of her.

Currently, we are in Las Vegas being treated. My mom is an outpatient while I keep tight in the hospital. I’m hoping the synthetic skin they have added after two surgeries helps the skin heal and grow, creating a smoother ride during this transition.  Thankfully, the skin is growing, and showing signs of healing. My biggest wish is to not need a skin graft to help seal up my chest.  I can't imagine what extra pain I would have with another wound when it's already difficult not being able to use my hands properly.

Currently (day 14), my left hand is healing nicely; the wrappings are coming off to encourage healing and I'm waiting to see how the rest is doing by tomorrow.  Physical therapy is a huge part of the day. I continue to concentrate on healing. I'm fortunate enough to have age on my side, and I’m reminding my mom to keep up therapy herself because everyone is also worried about her hand.

We keep going because all you can do after an unfortunate incident is making sure your body heals as best as possible, because there's still life up ahead.

Ash and Yesenia's notes

Thank you to everyone who has wished well for Suu and her mom. As more information is coming in, we're doing our best to estimate the total costs to meet the financial needs. Unfortunately, the financial burden will be an uphill battle along with the road to recovery. Even the smallest contribution will be greatly appreciated. Once again, we thank everyone who has offered kind words and encouragement to keep them going. The three of us will continue to keep everyone updated as time passes.

Make sure to check the updates for news of how healing and what your kind donations have been going towards in helping.
