It breaks our hearts to share that in April 2025, our family was hit with devastating news. At only 58 years old our beloved mother, Susy was diagnosed with stage 3 endometrial (uterine) cancer. After additional testing in May (2025), it was revealed she also has stage 4 colon cancer. She is now fighting two forms of aggressive synchronous primary cancers.

Our family was crushed by this news, but we are strong and know our mother is even stronger. She is ready to fight, and we are here to support her every step of the way. Part of this fight will involve paying medical bills, moving and living expenses, lost income, and travel expenses for the family so her out of state children can visit and help care for her as often as possible. We also hope to give her the chance to check off a few meaningful bucket list wishes—experiences that bring her joy, peace, and memories she deeply deserves in this difficult time.

For years, our mother has dedicated her life to caring for others and giving back to the community as an LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights advocate fighting for the human rights of others. And as a devoted caregiver for the elderly, she gave her heart, time, and energy to those in need—treating those she helped with compassion, dignity, and love. She has always been there for others when they needed her most. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her.

It’s not easy for us to ask for help—but right now, our mom really needs it. Any amount you can give—big or small—means the world to us. Every donation will go directly toward her care and recovery.

Nos entristece compartir que, en abril de 2025, nuestra familia recibió una noticia devastadora. Con tan solo 58 años, a nuestra querida madre, Susy, le diagnosticaron cáncer de endometrio (útero) en etapa 3. Tras realizarle pruebas adicionales en mayo, se reveló que también tiene cáncer de colon en etapa 4. Ahora lucha contra dos tipos de cáncer primarios.

Nuestra familia quedó devastada por esta noticia, pero somos fuertes y sabemos que nuestra madre lo es aún más. Ella está lista para luchar, y estamos aquí para apoyarla en cada paso del camino. Parte de esta lucha implicará pagar las facturas médicas, los gastos de mudanza y manutención, la pérdida de ingresos y los gastos de viaje de la familia para que sus hijos, que viven fuera del estado, puedan visitarla y cuidarla con la mayor frecuencia posible. También esperamos darle la oportunidad de cumplir algunos deseos importantes de su lista de deseos: experiencias que le brinden alegría, paz y los recuerdos que tanto merece en estos momentos difíciles.

Durante años, nuestra madre ha dedicado su vida a cuidar a los demás y a contribuir a la comunidad como defensora de los derechos LGBTQ+ y de los inmigrantes, luchando por los derechos humanos de las personas. Y como cuidadora dedicada de personas mayores, dedicó su corazón, tiempo y energía a quienes lo necesitaban, tratando a quienes ayudaba con compasión, dignidad y amor. Siempre ha estado ahí para quienes más la necesitaban. Ahora, nos toca a nosotros estar ahí para ella.
