Hallo! :)

Während meiner Zeit in Kenia habe ich Street Smile kennengelernt. Street Smile ist eine kleine, gemeindebasierte Organisation, die Kinder und Jugendliche in Kibera, der größten informellen Siedlung Nairobis, unterstützt.

Gemeinsam konnten wir einen Raum direkt im Herzen von Kibera mieten. Dieser Ort ist unglaublich wichtig:

Die monatliche Miete beträgt 10.000 Kenianische Schilling, das sind etwa 70€. Mit 2.000€ können wir die Miete für mindestens zwei Jahre sichern und zusätzlich Möbel anschaffen, sodass der Raum auch für Treffen und Workshops vermietet werden kann. Das ist ein wichtiger Schritt, damit sich das Projekt langfristig selbst finanzieren kann.

During my time in Kenya, I got to know Street Smile – a small community-based organization supporting children and youth in Kibera, one of Nairobi’s largest informal settlements.

Together, we were able to rent a small hall right in the heart of Kibera. This space is incredibly important:

The monthly rent is 10.000 Kenyan Shillings which is around 70€. With 2.000€, we can cover the rent for at least 2 years and purchase furniture, so the space can also be rented out for meetings and workshops which is helping the project become self-sustaining in the future.
