Sustain Samaritans in Egypt

Sometimes when the burden is heavy, that’s when we must step out in faith, and ask for something beyond what we would normally ask or expect. Covid has made it difficult to pay the rent or purchase a home. Offering mental health resources is so important.

Financial stress is common. But, it’s difficult to imagine the kind of stress Moushir has encountered for 31 years as Founder and Director of a non-profit in Egypt. I had the opportunity to meet Moushir when he arrived from Cairo to lead a seminar through the counseling training program offered by Good Samaritan Ministries (with its headquarters in Beaverton, near Portland, Oregon).

During this season of giving, please consider donating a gift to provide a way for Moushir to continue offering hospitality at home and leadership at the office by giving his family the housing stability they need. A familiar place to rest is so important for our mental health.

Many Americans have visited the Center for Counseling and Christian Maturity in Cairo to see how Moushir has worked to develop a team of counselors, support groups, and education to offer relief and hope. Counseling is available to clients at no charge. (Website link here arabic christian counseling )

Who can give generously towards the goal of $6,000 for rent, utilities, and moving costs for Moushir and Evette, and Evette’s mom with Alzheimer's. They have been living together for the past 8 years in a Cairo apartment. Their landlord has given them 90 days to move, or purchase the "apartment." They certainly can't afford $130 K to purchase it, so it looks like they will need to move soon.

Who can join us to provide some rest and relief? Will you be able to spiritually, emotionally, or financially partner with us to carry this heavy yoke for God’s children there?!

We give thanks for all of ways the center in Cairo is helping people with Marriage and Family Counseling including personal therapy for men, women and children, along with Support Group therapy. This non-profit also provides counseling training courses in Arabic, online and in person; as well as Educational Seminars (Marriage, Parenting, Emotional Maturity, and Spiritual Living); a Specialized library; Psychodrama; Art Therapy; and a Mercy & Relief Ministry.

Love. Empathy. Concern. Thank you for sharing with our Samaritan friends in Cairo who have persevered through difficulties to offer hope and healing in a country where about 95 percent of people have experienced abuse. You can give a gift of comfort and healing with your support for the director and founder of the center.

Update- As part of GoFundMe’s Terms and Conditions, I need to clarify that we are not providing any goods or services in exchange for the donation of funds.

Joy to the World. We love the joyous sounds of laughter. Children can find hope with children’s therapy at the counseling center in Cairo. Along with an internship training program, Moushir has developed a counseling curriculum to train counselors. Imagine the hope we can provide to families.

Egyptian Hospitality: Many American and international visitors have been welcomed to Egypt by Moushir and Evette, and many have stayed in their home for days, weeks or months.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thank you for your concern.
You are invited to join us for a zoom with Moushir Saturday January 8 at 9 am Oregon time.
Please email [email redacted] for the zoom link.
