Sussmann Kids' Christmas Fundraiser 2022

Hello and thank you for visiting our fundraising page!

In place of any Christmas gifts, we are asking for donations to two giving projects. We are very excited about them and would be so thankful for your support.

First is a charity that you’ve helped us benefit before and that we especially remembered this year because of our new baby.

We are so thankful to be able to care for our baby Theo, and we would like to help mothers who are struggling to care for their babies. That’s why we would like to help Good Counsel Homes .

Good Counsel Homes offers four homes for expectant mothers and their children. They welcome women from any location, and they accept mothers with addictions or mental health challenges.

They also have a national 24 / 7 helpline; a follow-up Exodus Program for mothers and children after they leave Good Counsel homes; and an outreach program for single-parent families. They’ve even helped other groups in 8 states replicate their services!

Jesus came to us as a humble little baby. Please help us celebrate his birth by blessing these mothers and babies who need our help. A grant award this year will even match your donations, up to $100,000!

Our second charity is the Sudan Relief Fund.

We first learned about the wars and poverty in South Sudan while reading the book A Long Walk to Water, and we also have been touched by the story of St. Josephine Bakhita, a former Sudanese slave.

In South Sudan, decades of war and tribal infighting have left 80% of the country in poverty, and two million people living as refugees. More than 60% of those refugees are orphaned children.

Diseases such as typhoid and malaria plague the population; an estimated six million people face the threat of starvation; and the mother/infant mortality rate is one of the highest in the world.

The Sudan Relief Fund is dedicated to bringing food, safe drinking water, clothing, shelter, medical attention and hope to the people of South Sudan.

They are also equipping communities for the future by building schools and hospitals and providing training and agricultural programs.

We’ve set a goal of $1,500 for each charity, and we have each donated from $160 to $20 from our savings (10 times each of our ages), and our parents have donated $160 as well, for a total of $750, putting us a quarter of the way toward our total goal of $3,000.
