Sussmann Kids' Christmas Giving Projects

Hello and thank you for visiting our fundraising page! In place of any Christmas gifts, we are asking for donations to three giving projects. We are very excited about them and would be so thankful for your support!

Xavier would like to introduce you to our first project:

“Half of all Americans carry medical debt, and for many of them the weight is crippling. Their only options are depleting their savings, turning to crowdfunding, declaring bankruptcy, or, worst of all, delaying the medical care they need. But what if their debts could be eliminated completely?”

Now from Audrey:

“Introducing RIP Medical Debt; a non-profit organization that purchases medical debts from healthcare providers or collection agencies —and then abolishes those debts! They do so for people who face bankruptcy or have low incomes or a high percentage of medical debt. Imagine the relief of receiving a letter saying that your debt has been forgiven!”

And some number-crunching from Xavier:

“Every $1 donated relieves $100 of medical debt. If we’re able to raise $1,500, that would erase $150,000 in medical debt!”

Blaise could like to tell you about one of our two other projects, which are coordinated by Cross Catholic Outreach.

“Many struggling families trying to start a small business have trouble getting started due to a lack of the money required. That’s where microfinancing with Cross-Catholic Outreach comes in."

“While an amount like $350 may seem too small to make a long-term difference, that money is just what’s needed by a struggling family to start a business to rise out of poverty and achieve financial independence. Please help us support these business-starting families by helping us donate to Cross-Catholic Outreach and their microfinance work.”

Felicity wrote this description of our final project:

“In Bolivia people are having trouble getting clean water. They sometimes drink whatever water they can collect, which may be very dirty, and can make them sick. We would love some donations to fund the installation of hand pumps, so that these people can have clean, new, fresh water.”

And Cosmas asked Blaise to type this for him:

“I would love to give some clean water to wash hands. But I would also like to get clean water whenever I am thirsty. But first I would like to get clean water for those who don’t have any. I would like to get clean water for them when they are thirsty. So I would like to get water for the others who didn’t have any. For they were thirsty. We need to drink clean water since that one is good for us.”

Thank you for reading about these three projects!

We have set goals of $1,500 to donate to RIP Medical Debt; $1,050 to fund three microfinance projects in developing countries; and $1,026 to install two hand-pump wells for indigenous families in Bolivia.

We have each donated from $150 to $50 from our savings (10 times each of our ages), and our parents have donated as well, for a total of $894, to put us a quarter of the way toward our goal of $3,576.

Please join us in supporting these projects to bring help and hope to many people in need. No amount is too small! If you prefer for your gift to go to a certain project, please let us know.

Thank you for all your support of our fundraisers over the years and for celebrating Christmas with us in this special way!

Gratefully yours,
Audrey, Blaise, Xavier, Felicity, Cosmas (and Sixtus)
