I need your help guys.
As you all know I have multiple ‘chosen families’ that have enriched my extraordinary own family. And with the love they bring me, they also bring great grief when we lose a member. Today, Mama Jonathan Okwir, Juspanty - passed away having braved the war in northern Uganda, fighting for her family’s survival and raising an amazing person who I am honoured to call a brother Jonathan Okwir. Many of you know Jonathan from the Road to Freedom Peak. He and his siblings are a testament to their mother’s courage. But I need your help to get them through the coming days and months as the family grieves and her presence is missed.
My greatest memory of Juspanty was when she was sitting with my own mother at Jonathan’s graduation watching the first of the family’s children graduate from a prestigious university. She always told me how proud she was of me. And I know how proud she is of the children she has left behind.
As Jonathan said today about his mother: “My mother was a strong, brave, courageous and intelligent woman. I remember during the war period she was able to pull us by our hands amidst bullet raining on top of ur heads saying “run by my side and you will be ok.” She would always tell us to work hard and never give up in life. Forgive others for whatever wrong they have done to you. At the refugee settlement camp, she was a peace-maker. She loved people and always want to see people happy. Her legacy is that she taught all of us to move on even in a difficult situation and live peacefully with others.”
If you have a few bucks to help us out, I would appreciate it. The world is volatile, but the love of people like Mama Jonathan deserve to be remembered and celebrated.
I can personally guarantee that 100% of any funds goes to the family for murals and the coming months of expenses.
