Susie's Selfless Fight for Her Mom's Health

I am starting this GoFundMe for my friend Susie Horne (who works at Steve’s!). She is the kind of person that would help anyone at any time if she can. She works her butt off to make sure everyone around her is healthy, happy, and taken care of, rarely thinking of herself.

On Nov. 11th, she went to visit her mom in North Carolina, and she found her in very poor conditions, extremely sick, overmedicated, and needing emergency medical care, even though she was at a long-term facility already. Susie thought she was being well cared for, and what was supposed to be a pleasant 5-day visit turned into a very heart-wrenching 9 days, with 7 of them in the hospital next to her mother's bedside. Susie's mom has dementia, and even though some conversations were hard to understand before, now the communication is barely existent, and both she and her mom are scared of what lies ahead.

As Susie was in North Carolina, she started the court process of guardianship over her mother. Now comes the hard part. Susie lives in New Hampshire, her mother in N.C. Susie has to go to N.C. twice in December to appear in court to ask strangers if she can move her mom up north to be cared for and have the best quality of life she has left. This has been so hard and draining on Susie and her immediate family as she has a young child of her own, a full-time job, and is making endless phone calls every day to find out exactly what needs to be done to move her mom. She needs our help and is too selfless to ask anyone for it. With the back and forth plane tickets and one of the court appearances being a week before Christmas, anything would help. If you know her like I do, you know she would do the same for anyone!
