Knees permitting, I am attempting to run Hastings Half Marathon in March 2025 for this wonderful local charity close to my heart.

Sadly, Tesa - who was a Siberian Husky - has passed on but I did have the honour of meeting her once. Her charity is a small group of passionate and lovely volunteers, run by Luiza Mataca, who was Tesa's owner.

The Charity's mission is to support the local community by helping kind pet owners on low income cover essential veterinary bills, such as emergency and life-saving surgeries or treatments, when medical costs become overwhelming. Many families on low income face the heart breaking possibility of rehoming their beloved pets when unexpected vet costs arise, Tesa's Rescue hopes to ease these burdens, save lives and keep pets where they belong - with the families who love them. The Charity liaises directly with local vet clinics and payments go straight into vet accounts. Where possible, Tesa's Rescue also fosters and rehomes cats in need of help, who have been surrendered and have nobody to look after them.

The Charity runs solely on donations received from the kindness of members of the public.
