On Friday night, my two roommates and I lost our beautiful home to the Malibu fires. This is the photo of what remains of it. Everything we have ever owned up until this point went up in flames along with our magical house. We lost everything.
We ran out with whatever we could hold in our arms and survived as the fire moved upon us.
This place was so incredibly special to us, and brought us so much love and warmth. Over these three months we created a sisterhood that felt like a family, but now we are displaced with only a few items. We didn't get renter's insurance because we were still just settling in and who could know that a fire would happen especially after only a few months of just moving in.
For my birthday, which is November 15th, I would love nothing more to help my sister Mariasha who is a very special human and would never ask for help. I've come to know Mari over these past few months and she is one of those rare, special unicorns who a beautiful, kind soul, and is hurting and would love help her rebuild her life of everything she lost. She shines so much light everywhere she goes and is one of the funniest people I know.
The out pouring of love has been truly moving and it has restored my faith in humanity.
