Sue's Hero Arm Fund

Hi I am Sue, a mum of 5 AMAZING children, privileged now with beautiful grandchildren and happily married for 26years! I am so lucky but in 2017 my life changed massively and I lost all 4 of my limbs to Sepsis.

It all began when I went to the dentist for a routine checkup and the dentist nicked my gum and it started to bleed. It caused the most horrendous abscess that then led me to that night fighting for my life with sepsis.

I had gone from a healthy lady in my 40’s to fighting for my life. I spent 4 months in intensive care and overall a whole year in hospital. I am so lucky to be alive but sepsis has changed my life in every aspect. It has taken away everything it can take except my voice.

I have come such a long way since leaving hospital 3 years ago, but the smallest of tasks, like drinking out of a straw again has taken me over a year to achieve. But the time has come to move on. I know that I need to start taking control of trying to build my life back bit by bit. Sitting doing nothing about this is just not me.

When I saw the Hero Arms I thought ‘OMG this could be my answer. They could give me a new lease of life’.

This is the Hero Arm

I have always been a charitable person. I love to help other people and I have always enjoyed being that person, so crowdfunding to ask people to help me feels uncomfortable. I wonder why anyone would want to help me? But I don’t just want Hero Arms, I NEED them! So I will need to swallow my pride and hope that you will want to help me.

At the moment my arms are too short to fully wrap around my kids and cuddle them. The Hero Arms will let me hug my little girls again and that means EVERYTHING to me. Having the Hero Arms and finding a plastic surgeon to help me rebuild my face is the beginning for me to help me get my life back! Any support with my campaign is truly appreciated.

I'm raising money in aid of The Open Bionics Foundation and through them I will be able to get my Hero Arms. Every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

More information about The Open Bionics Foundation: The Open Bionics Foundation provides financial support to socioeconomically deprived people with limb differences who need multi-grip upper limb prosthetics.
