Help for Susan’s Brain Surgery

Hello friends and family! Please consider donating to help my friend Susan Malone-Buttress, and her sweet family as she continues to navigate her complicated health concerns, specifically the upcoming surgery scheduled for April 27th to remove an acoustic neuroma (tumor on the nerve responsible for hearing in her brain).

Some of you may have followed Susan’s cancer journey a few years ago, when she courageously battled lymphoma and endured months of chemo and radiation. She lost all hearing in her left ear in 2020 from those treatments. During an MRI they found the brain tumor but now it has more than doubled in size. The surgery to remove it can no longer be put off. The doctors are preparing her for the reality of complete loss of hearing in order to remove the tumor in its entirety. The surgery itself is dangerous, but even more so for her as she has a clotting disorder that has caused a long history of problematic blood clots. She will be in ICU for a few days and in the hospital for at least a week.

Despite being wheelchair dependent from dystonia, battling cancer, or dealing with many other health concerns, she is positive and upbeat. We often see her using humor on social media when dealing with a fall or losing her hair from chemo. She is a loving mother of 6 and grandma of 3! She is always busy going and doing what’s needed for her family, which is her greatest love and joy! She is a single mom who fostered and adopted 4 babies, who are now ages 9-13. Thankfully, she has the help and support from her two older children and their spouses.

Having the surgery out of town in Oklahoma City, is putting even more stress on Susan and the family due to the added financial strain of family members needing to take days off from work, the cost of hotels, meals, gas, etc… Let’s love on this family by offering our support to ease some of the financial stress they are facing.
