Hi my name is Susan Weiss an I recently became suddenly ill. We are still running tests and talking to doctors. I came to the ER at OSU on Tuesday and was admitted but still in the ER because there’s no room. Finally made it to a room. I will be here at least til Wednesday . When the tumor board meets. They’ve diligently have been working on it. Everyone has been so wonderful here . Here is what I have going on in a nutshell.
Looks like I’m being admitted to the hospital for swelling of my neurofibroma on my neck. Also probably looking at emergency surgery depending on what scans say
Edit: I have an old cyst that grew in size and grew in size since yesterday. It’s putting pressure on my jugular. Looking at surgery waiting to hear all details after all doctors communicate.
Edit: New update, they wanted to check my siway and the cost has a blood clot. It’s also pushing against both my carotid and jugular. So I can’t be safely intubated for surgery. They sre talking to neuro-oncology. In the meantime I’m getting a steroid to see if it helps relieve pressure. If it doesn’t I’m looking at a tracheotomy. They said they can’t let me safely leave without it. Also the tracheotomy will allow them to be able to do the surgery if that’s the route neurologist-oncology wants you to go.
Latest update: They want to get some more scans and also a biopsy of it to make sure it’s not malignant because of the rapid growth. Had a scope to test my airway a few hours ago but it was very blocked. Looking at a tracheotomy unless steroids work.
im asking if you can donate to help my family because i have no idea on how long my stay is going to be. Anything donated is appreciated more than you know.
keeping my faith trying to stay positive. Thank you everyone for all the support. It means everything to me. I love you all. I am allowed visitors. I’m at osu university hospital Rhodes wing room 702 if anyone wants to visit me.
My surgery is planned for next Wednesday. It’s a very extensive and hard surgery because of the location and bleeding risks. Then the plan will be to go home next Saturday as long as all goes well. All money received will go to medical expenses and gas and any money to help covet time lost at my husband’s job. Thank you everyone for the continued support and prayers.
