Susan's Surgery

My name is Susan and I'm sincerely asking for help to reclaim my femininity.  My journey started in my childhood when doctors recommended the use of steroid creams. It wasn't until my early 20's when I went for an annual exam with my PCP that I learned the result of using the steroid creams. My PCP informed me that I had symptoms that many women experience as a result of menopause and the decrease in estrogen production. I was referred to an excellent gynecologist who recommended surgery in early 2000 to repair the damage from the steroid use. Unfortunately, the surgery didn't help as much as hoped. I continued to notice painful changes and my gynecologist performed a biopsy in early 2016. With a new diagnosis I was referred to a doctor in Denver who specializes in women's care. My condition will require 2  initial experimental surgeries, and likely a third surgery afterwards. Because the experimental surgeries are not FDA approved, I am responsible for all costs. The third surgery may be considered cosmetic (although all of my doctors agree it is medical) and therefore I will likely be responsible for all costs.

In addition to the physical pain, all of this has been very emotional for me. My condition has made maintaining a relationship very difficult and I feel very much less than a woman. As all other treatments have been exhausted, the above surgeries are giving me some hope in reclaiming my femininity. My first surgery will be March 31st. I would greatly appreciate any support you can offer to me to help me manifest my dream of being in a loving , accepting, and passionate relationship first with myself and then with a partner. It is also my hope to educate more people about this rare but serious condition and find or start a support group for other women who are also silently suffering.
