Susan’s medical problems started 2 years ago while living in Hattiesburg, MS. A doctor there told her she was very anemic. At the time she was about to move back to Monroe, LA where her family lived. The Dr told her she needed to address her anemia with a doctor in Monroe as soon as she was settled in. She was also told she had a fatty liver but it wasn’t stressed to her the danger she was in due to the fatty liver.
She relocated to Monroe and found a great job. She begins seeing a doctor in Monroe about her anemia. The doctor tells her that her blood is so low he doesn’t know how she is able to function. Described her like a car trying to go with no fuel. They try giving her iron pills to bring her levels up but she can not tolerate the pills so she has to begin taking iron infusions.
She begins to notice that her mind is foggy and she is forgetful and can’t comprehend things. This all leads to her losing three jobs because she can’t do her job. Come to find out she is diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver which explains the brain fog and what was happening to her mentally and physically.
She gets on unemployment while looking for another job. At her Dr appt in July the dr sends her to the hospital immediately because she has blood clots in her lungs and her blood level is still very low. She is unable to look for a job while in the hospital so she is denied unemployment and can not get back on it due to not being able to work. She has filed for disability from the advice of her doctors but she may not get it for a year or more.
Susan has been near death more than once since July and has been hospitalized three times having to stay more than a week each time.
She was sent to Shreveport to put a stent in her liver to help the blood flow thru the liver. Her ammonia levels get very high due to the cirrhosis and it makes her absolutely crazy. So now the Drs are more concerned with the liver than the anemia. When the Drs in Shreveport go in to do the procedure amazingly and by the Grace of God her body has miraculously formed its on stent. So at this time her liver is holding its own but still dealing with the anemia and where the blood is going. She is having to take blood transfusions which make her deathly ill. At some point her family would like for her to see a specialist for her anemia.
At this time Susan really could use financial help since she hasn’t worked since January and is totally dependent on others for all monetary needs. On top of all the medical problems she also feels like a burden to her family because she can’t provide for herself. Please help if you can, any amount helps and makes a difference!
