Susan Needs A Valve Job--Open-Heart Surgery!

Hello, I'm Susan Mennealy, a Northern Nevada disabled wife/mom/writer and crazy chicken lady--and I need a valve job!

My doctor recently found I had a heart murmur, and further testing revealed that due to congenital defects in three of my heart valves, I was born with bifurcated heart valves instead of the standard trifurcated valves. Bifurcated valves have to work harder to pump your blood, and even then, do a poor job of it.

As I've gotten older this has led to shortness of breath, fatigue, heart palpitations, and other issues associated with a defective heart.

My cardiac surgeon has diagnosed my aortic and mitral valves with 'Critical Stenosis', and I must undergo open-heart surgery to have three new valves placed, as soon as possible.

But nothing is ever straightforward, and certain medical-dental procedures MUST be done prior to my heart surgery to get me healthy enough for heart surgery--and they aren't covered by my insurance.

This is a literal life or death issue for me, and time is of the essence.

When not stressing out about my second-rate heart I write science-fantasy novels, herd around a mixed flock of backyard chickens, and offer free online help with keeping chickens--and every Easter for the last fifteen years I've run 'Chickam', a springtime YouTube webcast of baby chicks hatching and growing up.
