For over four years, our family has been in and out of hospitals with my mom, Susan Kessler. Each time, she has fought her way back home—but only for a short while. Her insurance has only ever allowed us to afford a few weeks of skilled care at a time, which was never enough for the full recovery she needed.
After this most recent hospitalization, things are no longer looking as hopeful as before. My mom is weaker, and her doctors agree that she now needs long-term skilled care in a facility, not just a short stay. This is the only way to give her the stability, therapy, and round-the-clock attention she needs to have a real chance at recovery, or at least a life free of much of the pain and suffering she has had to endure.
We have also found that she will likely qualify for a Medicaid program to help pay for her care if we can ensure a stay at a skilled-care facility for a minimum of 90 days.
The costs of this level of care are overwhelming, and our family can no longer manage it alone. That’s why we are reaching out for help.
We are raising this money to cover:
- Skilled nursing facility placement
- Ongoing medical care and rehabilitation
- Support for her daily needs and safety during recovery or long-term care
My mom has fought so hard for so long, and she deserves the chance to heal without the constant stress of being sent home too soon. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to giving her the care she needs and the peace of mind she deserves. If you cannot give, please consider sharing this fundraiser—it truly makes a difference.
Thank you for standing with us through this difficult time. Your kindness means more than we can say.
With love and gratitude,
The Kessler Family
