Wow. I am so filled with gratitude for everyone who has donated to and shared this fundraiser so far. With your help, we were able to reach our goal of $18,000 in only two days! Thank you so so very much. Because we reached our initial goal so quickly, we've decided to raise it to $50,000. The reality is that my mother's treatment has already begun to significantly effect her ability to work, so the more help she can get, the better. We think this new goal is a better one for the long term, which is essential for making the best of this hard situation. Thank you again, and remember: it's a marathon, not a sprint!

My name is Marcus- some of you might know me as Astrud. I am fundraising on behalf of my Mother, Susan Kennedy, as she battles pancreatic cancer. My mother has been an amazing support structure for myself and countless others, so it's time we give back some of that support in these hard times.

Our goal for this fundraiser is to help pay her out of pocket health care costs. Her insurance requires her to cover the first $18,000, after which point they will step in and cover the rest. Any additional funds raised will help to cover expenses while she's unable to work. Her treatment consists of up to 12 rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, then surgery, followed by more chemo. Doctors are describing this as a marathon, not a sprint. They also say she has a great shot at winning!
