Susan Gager's Cancer Fund

Hello folks,

My name is Justine Goldsborough and I am the daughter of Susan Gager. If you've ever met my mom, you'll know that she is a kind, thoughtful and hardworking woman. She's always thinking of others and lives for her kids (me and my brother, Hunter). I'm certain when you think of her, you can recall times of laughter and great food. She is very much loved.

Last month, my mother discovered a lump and was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. We were absolutely floored by this news, as she is only 43 years old and breast cancer does not run in our family. Following some additional testing, doctor's recommended a double mastectomy. By no means a simple procedure, but we remained positive. There was hope.

However, once the test results came back, she was then diagnosed with stage 4 bone cancer.  It turns out that my mom had a very slow form of breast cancer for about 10 years before there was any indication that something was amiss. Over that period of time, the cancer had unfortunately spread to every part of her body. In the past few months alone, it has caused her to rapidly lose weight and experience pain all over. Doctors have informed us that this disease is terminal and to say that I am utterly crushed is an understatement. There's never a convenient time for someone to be diagnosed with cancer, but I cannot describe to you the pain I feel over having to face this reality at 24.

The most we can do for her is prescribe her medication and have her undergo radiation treatments to help mitigate the pain and slow down the cancer as much as possible so that she can happily spend time with her friends and family. As you can imagine, the expenses associated with treatments are expensive. My mom is a hardworking woman and a nurse at St. Anne's Nursing Home. She's been taking care of other folks her entire life. But due to this illness causing her bones to become more brittle, she has already been reduced to working part-time. Mom is determined to work for as long as possible, but will not be able to for much longer, as she has already experienced a slight fracture in her hip due to the cancer.

In the meantime, I would like to ask on her behalf to cover these costs. It would mean the world to me to raise this money in order to give her the highest quality of life possible. She deserves it. Any amount that is donated will be so very much appreciated and helpful! And if you don't have the extra cash to spare, just sharing this GoFundMe alone will help us increase our outreach. Let's show her how much support she has!

Thank you so much for reading.
